Who should apply?
- Students who are South African citizens.
- Students whose combined family income is less than R350 000.
- All new applicants (matriculants) or students who passed Grade 12 in previous years, but never registered at any university.
- Students who have never received NSFAS funding.
- However, if a student does not register in the subsequent year of funding and have taken a “gap year”, a student will be required to re-apply.
- Ensure to monitor your status, and if any missing documents are required, ensure to submit them, as only a limited time will be given to respond.
- The N+1 Rule applies to all students who receive financial aid from NSFAS.
- The N+2 Rule applies to students with disabilities.
- Students living with disabilities whose combined family income is less than R600 000.
- Students with disabilities must report to the Financial Aid Office for further assistance after registration.
