Free Vehicle Pickup

Vehicle pickup is free and arranged at a convenient time. Pickup is available Monday through Friday between 6 AM and 3 PM in the Greater Washington area, with limited availability on Saturdays. At pickup, the signed title and keys are needed. If it is not possible to be there in person, the keys and title can be left in the glovebox or mailed in.

Title Information

A clear title in the donor’s name is required at pickup. The seller section of the title must be signed and printed. For help with state-specific title instructions:

License Plates

Goodwill does not need the license plates from the donated vehicle. Here are some tips:

If the car is parked on the street, keep the tags on until pickup day.
If the tags are removed from a vehicle parked on personal property, place a sign in the window saying: “Lost tags – Vehicle will be removed immediately.”
If the vehicle is on private property, tags may be removed before pickup.

After pickup, contact the DMV to cancel the vehicle’s registration. The pickup receipt can serve as documentation.

After the Sale

Tax Documents

Tax documentation is sent within two weeks of the vehicle being sold.
