The student was a victim of a violent crime.
The student is appealing the N+ rule (failure to meet academic progression requirements).

Reasons Your NSFAS Appeal May Be Considered

Appeals from students who did not meet the academic eligibility criteria will only be considered under specific circumstances. These include:

The student is a continuing student who was not registered as an FTEN (First-Time Entering) or FTN (First-Time National) student in their previous academic term.
The student’s failure to complete their academic term is due to a serious illness lasting two or more months during the term or exams.
There was a death in the student’s immediate family during the academic term.
The student was the victim of a violent crime, such as rape or abuse.
The student was pregnant and gave birth during the academic term, and the institution assessed the situation and completed the NSFAS standard propensity letter, confirming the student will finish their qualification within an additional academic term.
The student has a disability, and a medical report shows that the disability caused the failure to complete the academic term. The institution must also have evaluated the student and completed the NSFAS standard propensity letter confirming the student will complete their qualification within an additional academic term.
The student can provide evidence that the academic results provided to NSFAS are incorrect.
