Meaning Of Nsfas Appeal

An appeal means a formal request made by a student to NSFAS, asking them to reassess their decision regarding the denial of funding.​ This process involves submitting an appeal application. Students are entitled to file their appeal within thirty (30) days of receiving notification of their unsuccessful application.

Who Is Eligible To Appeal?

​A student whose financial aid application has been denied or whose funding has been revoked may submit an appeal to NSFAS.​

Note That:

The outcome of appeals is contingent upon the availability of the budget. Only those students who have formally applied for Financial Aid through NSFAS will be eligible for consideration in the appeals process. A student must submit an appeal within 30 days of receiving their application results. To submit an appeal, he or she must first log in to his or her myNSFAS profile and provide the requested information.

Who Is Ineligible To Appeal?

​Students are not allowed to appeal under the following circumstances:​

• They are enrolled in a program that is not funded by NSFAS.
• They have exceeded the N+2 limit (or N+3 for students with disabilities).
• The student is taking a gap year and has previously been denied financial aid by NSFAS due to failure to meet academic eligibility requirements.
• Their institution has not provided the correct registration record to NSFAS or has submitted an inaccurate record; in such cases, inquiries should be directed to the institution.

How To Submit An Appeal

Follow these steps to submit an appeal to NSFAS to consider your request:

• Log in to your myNSFAS account on the NSFAS website.
• Click on the ‘Track Funding Progress’ option.
• Review the application progress tabs.
• If your status shows as unsuccessful, click on the ‘Submit Appeal’ tab.
