NSFAS-Funded TVET Colleges 2026-2027: Eligibility, Courses & Application:
There are about fifty public Tvet Colleges in South Africa that operate under the Departments of Higher Education and Training with over 360 campuses across the provinces of the nation. In other to give quality education and equal rights to all citizens of SA, the government has introduced a bursary system that gives financial support to all students who are now enrolled in the various Tvet Colleges.
If you are a South African student enrolled in any of the Tvet Colleges and come from a household with an annual income of less than R350,000, you qualify for Nsfas. This funding covers tuition fees, accommodation, transport, and study materials for qualifying students. When Can Tvet College Students Apply For Nsfas For 2026-2027
- If you are a Tvet College student in SA, you can begin the Nsfas application process for the 2026-2027 academic year from September 2025 through to the 15th of December 2025.

Who Qualifies For Nsfas As A Tvet College Students
The following are the people who are qualified to receive NSFAS funds:
- Only South African citizens are eligible for this bursary scheme;
A student must be registered or intending to register on a PLP, NC(V), or Report 191 program at any of the fifty (50) public TVET Colleges in South Africa; - Must need financial assistance (NSFAS will determine whether or not a student meets the financial eligibility criteria);
Returning students must demonstrate proven and accepted academic performance (academically deserving) in line with the College’s progression policy or the progression prescriptions of the Bursary Rules and Guidelines (whichever is higher); - Must not be enrolling for a qualification that duplicates previous learning that was state-funded; and
Applicants will qualify if they fall within the maximum threshold of up to R350,000 of combined gross family income per annum and are admitted/received a firm offer for enrolment in a College.

Tvet College students are to provide the following documents when applying for Nsfas:
- Certified copy of your South African ID (or birth certificate if under 18).
- Parents’/guardians’/spouse’s ID copies (if applicable).
- Proof of household income (payslips, affidavit, or SASSA letter if applicable).
- Disability Annexure Form (if you have a disability).
- Consent form for NSFAS to verify your income
