What Are The NSFAS Requirements 2026-2027?
What Are The NSFAS Requirements 2026-2027?
NSFAS provides financial aid to students from low-income households, covering tuition, accommodation, study materials, and, in some cases, a living allowance. To qualify, you must be a South African citizen or permanent resident, enrolled in an accredited public institution, and meet specific financial and academic criteria.
Generally, your household income should not exceed R350,000 per year, though students from households earning between R350,000 and R600,000 may qualify under certain conditions. To maintain funding, students must achieve at least a 60% pass rate, while those consistently scoring above 70% may receive a 50% bursary conversion. SASSA grant recipients automatically qualify.
Applicants must also submit essential documents, including a certified copy of their ID, proof of household income, and recent academic results. If you are planning to study at a public university or TVET college in South Africa for the 2026-2027 academic year, NSFAS could be the key to financing your education, just ensure you meet the eligibility criteria before applying.
