Which Bank Does NSFAS Use?

The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) in South Africa works with several major banks to distribute funds to eligible students. NSFAS has teamed up with First National Bank (FNB), Absa, Standard Bank, and Capitec Bank to ensure students can easily access their financial aid. To receive your NSFAS allowances, you can choose one of these banks to open a personal bank account. Once your account is set up, simply submit your banking details through the myNSFAS portal for verification.

This allows your funds to be directly deposited into your chosen account. Gone are the days of receiving allowances via the NSFAS Direct Payment Black Card. Instead, your funding will now be sent directly to the bank account you select.

If you choose Standard Bank, you will be given access to an NSFAS Bank Account. This account is tailored to make it easier for students to manage their finances, with features like ATM withdrawals, mobile banking, and online banking, ensuring that accessing and using your funds is both secure and convenient.
